I feel like the title speaks for itself, but to elaborate: Today, I was beyond excited to get to school to share the news that I will be going to Ghana for a year. I ran up to everyone that I knew and just let the words pour "I won the YES Abroad Scholarship to go to Ghana for an entire year!!!" I was expecting everyone to be so overjoyed and as thrilled as I was, but instead, I got this blank stare and then the question "Where's that at?" It surprised me so much that no one knew that Ghana was in Africa! I think the most hilarious comment that I had about Ghana today was one from one of my dearest friends. He walked up to me and in all seriousness said "Allie, I did some research on Ghana, and while I am so happy for you... you do know that they have dirt roads.....right?" I don't think he would've been able to handle it if I was to tell him about the bucket showers.
