YES ABROAD PRE-DEPARTURE ORIENTATION
The PDO was packed full of workshops, visits to the respected embassies, a visit to the State Department where we were able to ask a series of questions about our countries and one-on-one talks with our country groups with our amazing country group leaders - who were alumni of the program in our country! (Yay, Logan)!.....not to mention we were able to see everyone again, it was just really nice to be back with my YES family.
Ghana Embassy visit
At the Ghana Embassy!
All 6 of us going to Ghana, plus Logan, hopped on a bus with all the Ghanaian kids who had just finished their year here in the United States and headed to the embassy. At the embassy, we were able to meet with and talk to the Ambassador and eat delicious Ghanaian food..as well as have more conversations with our new Ghanaian friends. They were all so excited for us to be going to Ghana.
If you don't love Ghana... you sure will after talking to a Ghanaian..they are wonderful people!

Leaving the PDO was hard. This was the last time we were all going to be together as 10 countries. And for some (India and Thailand) it was one of their final days left in the US for a year. There were so many hugs and lots of pictures that were taken and then we all left going to our gateway orientation or heading back home awaiting our departure date.
To my YES family, let's have a good and safe year!
To Ghana, Thailand, Turkey, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Morocco, South Africa, Oman and Bosnia watch out... you have some amazing people about to leave on our journeys to explore and understand you better.
To the State Department.. Thank you so much. Words cannot even begin to express my gratitude.
To Amideast, AFS and American Councils.. Thank you for putting the time and effort into making sure we're prepared for when we leave and watching out for us while we're abroad.
